Kaleidoscope Leaf Placemats

Only two farmers' markets left for the season and as successful as it was, I am really looking forward to a break and working on new designs for spring and summer. I have signed up for the entire summer season with Coastal Growers' at Casey Farm as well as the URI May Festival and Virtu Arts Festival in Westerly. Dates will be posted on my web and Etsy site.

My newest batch of prints was inspired by a loyal market customer who requested a set of multi-colored placemats in my favorite bug-eaten oak leaf design. It took a several days to print as I needed to clean the screen after each color.

My Mum found the oak leaf and gave it to me years ago and it is a treasure for sure. I know I still have it somewhere but was able to find a scan of it and re-worked it a bit for the graphic. I used it as a logo for years when I was doing freelance illustration work and thought it would be perfect printed on triple-washed hemp canvas for placemats and on linen union for pillows.

New Winter Market

December came and went quickly! My days were scheduled down to the minute, printing, sewing and filling orders with hardly time for anything else. I finished my big order for Crabtree and Evelyn a day ahead of schedule and relished the feeling of a few days off for Christmas. I want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported Willywaw this past year. My first full year in business was super and I was able to accomplish all that I set out to do. I learned a lot, was encouraged by my now loyal customers and have big plans for the coming year.

The Coastal Growers Market moved inside to the LaFayette Mill in Wickford for it's first winter season and I jumped on board, committing to every weekend until March 13th. I have a great corner stall and a full assortment of hand crafted goods. My t-shirts remain the most popular and herb sachets, tea towels and new pillow designs have been favorites as well. If you are in Rhode Island be sure to stop by. The market is filled with local growers, produce, artisans and goods.

January looks like a month of planning and learning Quickbooks with my new accountant, working on a strategy for the year and finding an affordable, large studio space to function in. I've started working on sketches and ideas for the Spring collection and continue to add goods to my Etsy site.
